May 5, 2021 - The American Outlaws, the largest unofficial supporter’s group of the U.S. national soccer teams, are excited to announce that Donald Wine II has accepted a call up to the Board of Directors. For more than 13 years, Donald has been instrumental in shaping AO through his chapter leadership, soccer expertise and positive bravado in the stands, most recently as chapter co-chair, in-stadium chair and USWNT chair.
Most of all, he has positively influenced AO members and fans of the US teams worldwide.
"Donald has long provided AO with wonderful advice, experience, chapter support and an awesome section environment," said Justin Brunken, AO co-founder. "We know he will contribute great insight, positive passion and perspective as we move forward."
As a board member, Donald will help drive AO's overall mission and direction for our members and our chapters. Although he will advise on all decisions related to AO, he will take the lead in the following:
- In-stadium/events - Donald will continue his role, working side by side with board member Brian Hexsel to ensure an unmatched event experience and an in-stadium experience that continues to inspire our national teams on the field.
- Merch strategy and planning - Donald will lead our creative strategy and planning for AO merchandise so we look good when we are cheering at the top of our lungs.
- Diversity, equity and inclusion - Donald will lead our DE&I efforts to continually shape our organization internally and for our members for the greater good of all humankind.
Donald has attended more than 120 USMNT and USWNT matches in person, which is incredible given his busy career as an attorney and as a writer and editor. As co-manager of Stars & Stripes FC, he covers our beloved US teams through writing, editing and podcasting. He also is the co-host of the World of Concacaf Podcast, writes for Black & Red United, and writes and co-hosts a podcast for the Duke Basketball Report.
Donald also volunteers his time in the community, advising several nonprofit organizations as well as serving as AO’s representative on the steering committee of the Anti-Racist Project. Outside of soccer, he attends and watches every other sport known to humankind and enjoys traveling, and spending time with his family and close friends.
Please join us in congratulating Donald Wine II, the newest member of the American Outlaws Board of Directors!
