THE HYPE

The USMNT is back in action after a few stale months for the boys.  We can be honest enough to acknowledge that 2018 will not be at all what we had envisioned; this camp should have been about finalizing our roster for Russia. The thought of not being in the World Cup is something most couldn’t have ever imagined, and it still hurts even months later.  The program itself is certainly in a crucial moment, and our continued support proves to each us that we are fans to this team until the end of time.

But Sunday’s match is one of the first steps to rebuilding our team, and our belief in this team.  Last match the young boys proved that we have a lot to look forward to, and played very well in earning a 1-1 draw away to the European Champions, Portugal.  A descent result for the USMNT considering the timing and opponent.  

Bosnia & Herzegovina stroll into LA under similar circumstances, having missed out on a trip to Russia by finishing 3rd in UEFA Qualifying Group H behind Greece and Belgium.  B&H bring a very young team, with a combined 12 caps total amongst the entire team excluding Haris Medunjanin, the Philadelphia Union midfielder who has 55 caps to his name alone.  

Interim Manager Dave Sarachan has put together a squad filled with a lot of first-time caps and young, domestic-based talent. The four keepers have a combined 4 caps, and the defense has a combined 5. Gyasi Zardes is the most senior player in the team with 37 caps. Veteran new-comers like Ike Opara and Bill Hamid will look to take their chance and cement a position going into the new year.

2018 isn’t going to be what we hoped it be. But that doesn’t mean we throw in the towel and quit. A new and likely long journey begins with this January Camp. Let’s dust ourselves off and get going.
