Pre-Game Hype: USMNT vs. Brazil
USMNT v Brazil Date: September 8th, 2015 Location: Gillete Stadium – Foxborough, MA Time: 8:15pm ET (coverage); 8:40pm ET (KO) TV: ESPN2, UniMas, Univision Deportes Watch with your #AOFamily at one of our 180 chapter locations! The USMNT face five-time World Cup champions Brazil outside of Boston on Tuesday evening in the last match before the big one versus Mexico next month. After a sluggish start against Peru on Friday, the U.S. looked focused in the second half and deservedly came from behind to win 2-1. King Altidore stole the headlines with a brace, but many other players impressed as well. Zardes looked a man on a mission on the wing, Yedlin was sharp, Guzan was stellar, and Ream and Besler put in solid defensive shifts. Klinsi will likely be making a few adjustments ahead of Tuesday night’s clash but will be looking to finalize his 11 that will beat Mexico at the Rose Bowl. Brazil need no introduction, but they will need to be on their game if they want to leave Boston with a win. The giants from South America are 16-1 against the Americans….but we’re here to let them know their record means #nothing to us. After an embarrassing exit from the 2014 World Cup and a disastrous Copa America this summer the Brazilians have never been more vulnerable. We’re preparing for the biggest game in 2015 and our boys will not be in the mood to lose this game. Here’s the squad: GK: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa), Tim Howard (Everton), Sean Johnson (Chicago Fire) DEF: Ventura Alvarado (Club America), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Geoff Cameron (Stoke City), Greg Garza (Atlas), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Michael Orozco (Club Tijuana), Tim Ream (Fulham), Jonathan Spector (Birmingham City) MID: Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Joe Corona (Veracruz), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Jermaine Jones (New England Revolution), Alfredo Morales (FC Ingolstadt), Danny Williams (Reading), DeAndre Yedlin (Sunderland) FOR: Jozy Altidore (Toronto FC), Aron Johannsson (Werder Bremen), Bobby Wood (Union Berlin), Jordan Morris (Stanford), Andrew Wooten (SV Sandhausen), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy) Roster notes: Mikey Bradley, Jordan “He-Does-It-For-Free” Morris and Sean Johnson all added for this match, with Matt Besler and William Yarbrough rejoining their clubs. Here’s the Brazilian team: GK: Jefferson (Botafogo), Marcelo Grohe (Gremio), Alisson (Internacional) DEF: David Luiz (PSG), Marquinhos (PSG), Miranda (Inter Milan), Gabriel Paulista (Arsenal), Daniel Alves (Barcelona), Filipe Luiz (Atletico Madrid), Danilo (Real Madrid), Douglas Santos (Atlético Mineiro) MID: Luis Gustavo (Wolfsburg), Fernandinho (Manchester City), Elias (Corinthians), Ramirez (Chelsea), Oscar (Chelsea), Firmino (Liverpool), Willian (Chelsea), Kaká (Orlando City SC), Lucas Lima (Santos) FOR: Neymar (Barcelona), Lucas (PSG), Hulk (Zenit St. Petersburg), Douglas Costa (Bayern Munich) Yes, they have a solid team. But according to some research we’ve done, if we outscore Brazil, there will be a good chance of victory. #AOnalysis Here are the gameday events in Foxborough! So let’s have a pint and warm up the vocal chords. We need the USMNT to know that we have their backs. They’ll need us tonight but more importantly, they’ll need us on 10/10. Smooches, AO
