USMNT vs. Cuba (Gold Cup Quarterfinal) Date: Saturday, July 18, 2015 Time: 5:00pm ET Location: M&T Bank Stadium (Baltimore, MD) TV: Fox, Univision Watch at one of our 175 chapter bars with your #AOFamily! The Hype: The USMNT continues its march toward the Gold Cup Final after drawing 1-1 with Panama on Monday in Kansas City to finish group play. The United States had already sealed the group and were looking to gain some momentum heading into the quarterfinal. Alas, the lively crowd at Sporting Park didn’t get their reward, despite Michael Bradley’s 2nd half equalizer. To be fair, Panama played well and deserved a point in the end. On to the quarterfinal in Baltimore where the U.S. meets a depleted Cuban team that has four players defect thus far. Ariel Martinez became the latest, despite playing every minute of the tournament thus far. Wild stuff. But it must be said that the Cubans have looked much more dangerous throughout this tournament, advancing through a legendary win over Guatemala in the final group stage match 1-0. Here’s the roster: GK: Brad Guzan (Aston Villa/2007), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake/2013/2011), William Yarbrough (Club Leon) DEF: Ventura Alvarado (Club America), John Brooks (Hertha Berlin), Timmy Chandler (Eintracht Frankfurt), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Fabian Johnson (Borussia Mönchengladbach), Tim Ream (Bolton Wanderers), Damarcus Beasley (Houston) MID: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Alejandro Bedoya (Nantes), Michael Bradley (Toronto), Mix Diskerud (New York City), Joe Corona (Tijuana), DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy), Graham Zusi (Sporting Kansas City) FOR: Clint Dempsey (Seattle Sounders), Aron Johannsson (AZ Alkmaar), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Alan Gordon (LA) Damarcus Beasley, Joe Corona, and Alan Gordon have been added to the roster heading into the quarterfinal to replace Jozy Altidore, Greg Garza, and Alfredo Morales. With John Brooks suspended, you have to feel as though Omar Gonzalez and Ventura Alvarado will feature together in the center of defense. Michael Bradley and Clint Dempsey have lead by example thus far, and Jurgen Klinsmann will need more out of his team if we are to win this tournament. The crowd support from Dallas, Boston, and KC has been tremendous. Jurgen Klinsmann made it clear that he needs AO at each match to give the players that extra lift, especially when things aren’t going our way. Let’s not let him down. Here are the events for today’s match in Baltimore https://www.theamericanoutlaws.com/events/usmnt-vs-tbd-gold-cup-quarterfinal With love, let’s go, AO!
