Pre-Game Hype: USWNT - Japan
USWNT vs Japan (Women’s World Cup Final) Date: Sunday, July 5th, 2015 Location: BC Place, Vancouver, BC, Canada Time: 7pm ET TV: FOX (the main one), Telemundo Watch with your #AOFamily at one of our 175 local chapters! The Hype It’s a World Cup Final. That should be enough for you all to get hyped up. Need more reasons? Okey dokey. 1) In 2011 the United States women’s national team lost on penalty kicks to Japan ending the quest for a third WWC title. In 2012 the U.S. beat Japan in the London Olympics to capture the gold medal. Today is that rubber match between the two sides. 2) She doesn’t allow her family to travel to games. Her trainer has to stay home. She walks alone before matches. Carli Lloyd is on a mission. With three goals and an assist in this tournament she's been the engine of this team. All eyes will be on her on Sunday.  3) The world’s leading goal scorer needs to lift that trophy. Abby Wambach has scored more goals that any man or woman but she has never won a World Cup. Despite her outspokenness and reduced playing time at this tournament she's the backbone of this team. She deserves this. 4) Christine Rampone is the sole remaining 99er on the roster and a title in 2015 would bring light to the long shadow that that team cast over the USWNT for the past 16 years. 5) This is, arguably, one of the finest defensive performances ever seen at a World Cup. Brazil in 1994 and Italy in 2006 will tell you “defense wins championships” and the 2015 USWNT backline has been stellar. Stellar doesn’t even do justice to the performances of Julie Johnston, Megan Klingenburg, Ali Krieger, Becky Sauerbrunn, and Hope Solo. 6) Win one on home soil. Yes, Canada is now America North. U.S. fans by the thousands pour across the border to support this team and made our neighbors more like roommates. BC Place is going to be a sea of red, white, and blue (and yes, of course, we’ll be there) so why not win one for the home fans? 7) #WeWantThreeStars Get to your local AO watering hole early, cheer loud, and let’s go ladies!!!!
