The Hype Party like it's 1999? That what we're hoping for tonight. The United States women's national team takes on the other finalist from the last time they won the Women's World Cup. Memories of that epic shootout victory and Brandi Chastain's sport bra bearing celebration hang like a long shadow over this team and their predecessors of the last 16 years.  A win tonight in the quarterfinals would be a big step forward in erasing those demons.  The USWNT is coming off a shaky 2-0 win against Colombia that saw them struggle to capitalize on several chances against a 10-woman South American side. That being said... the U.S. was actually creating some decent chances which is more than they had been in the group stages. Abby Wambach missed a penalty kick, but Carli Lloyd was ice cold on her own PK.  The U.S. will be without midfield maestra Megan Rapinoe and fellow midfielder Lauren Holiday because the stupidest rule in the FIFA tournament book says yellow cards carry over from the group stages. SMH. Who might we see to replace them? There is no one that can replace Rapinoe like-for-like, but if Tobin Heath doesn't make the starting XI then... I just don't know what... China is well-organized in the back... like a Great Wall some might say and will be difficult to break down, much like Sweden was. Wambach's height will be a big advantage, but you'd hope that the speed of Alex Morgan (who looked sharp on Monday), Sydney Leroux or Christen Press would provide that extra dagger to cut through the Chinese defense.  The USWNT's defense has continued to be solid as ever and if (when) the ladies hoist the World Cup trophy on July 5th it'll be because of them.
