USA vs. Mexico Pre-Game Hype - Alamodome
US v Mexico
4/15/2015 @ 7:30 pm CST
Alamodome – San Antonio, TX
The USMNT face that one team that we typically beat on Wednesday night at the Alamodome in San Antonio. Yes, there’s grass(on concrete). The match is televised on Fox Sports 1, UniMas, but more importantly at your local AO watch party(www.theamericanoutlaws.com/chapters). Quite a few mixed results since the World Cup leave Jurgen Klinsmann with some unexpected pressure leading into the Gold Cup this summer. A 1-1 draw away at Switzerland last month was a solid result, but the Yanks have made it a habit to concede late goals over the last few months. Time to fix that. Mexico haven’t beaten the USMNT since Jurgen Klinsmann took charge in late summer of 2011 and he will look to continue that streak of good results. Their last loss was in Pasadena in the 2011 GC Final and it still hurts for many of us. *Wipes tears* Here’s the roster: GK: Bill Hamid (D.C. United), Nick Rimando (Real Salt Lake), William Yarbrough (Club Leon) DEF: Ventura Alvarado (Club America), Matt Besler (Sporting Kansas City), Brad Evans (Seattle Sounders FC), Greg Garza (Club Tijuana), Omar Gonzalez (LA Galaxy), Brek Shea (Orlando City SC), DeAndre Yedlin (Tottenham Hotspur) MID: Kyle Beckerman (Real Salt Lake), Michael Bradley (Toronto FC), Joe Corona (Club Tijuana), Mix Diskerud (New York City FC), Miguel Ibarra (Minnesota United FC), Perry Kitchen (D.C. United), Lee Nguyen (New England Revolution) FOR: Juan Agudelo (New England Revolution), Julian Green (Hamburg), Jordan Morris (Stanford University), Chris Wondolowski (San Jose Earthquakes), Gyasi Zardes (LA Galaxy)
Deuce is injured & Jozy is suspended which will give the opportunity for Juan Agudelo and Jordan Morris to step in and show their finishing abilities. Good to see Joe Corona back in the team after a solid GC in 2013. Yedlin should be considered an interesting call for this given his Premier League debut with Tottenham was only 4 days ago – wouldn’t he want to build on that? Brek Shea has been reinvigorated in the past few performances after being in club limbo for over a year. Yarbrough and Bill Hamid will be looking to show well in camp leading into the Gold Cup, perhaps to sneak into that final roster.
Mexico has been in good form lately….. Nevermind we have no idea how they’ve been playing. But surely they’ll bring out all the tricks for this game. Regardless, we need to be loud in the stadium and let them know we’re there. Make sure you check out the events surrounding the game if you’re in San Antonio. https://www.theamericanoutlaws.com/events/usmnt-vs.-mexico-in-san-antonio
If you haven’t checked it out, we have recently launched AO Watch. Help us support the USMNT and USWNT with passion and integrity. https://www.theamericanoutlaws.com/articles/announcing-ao-watch
C’MON YOU YANKS XOXO
